Historie
Na ostrove Guadeloupe bylo v roce 1775 více než 70 palíren. Dodnes se jich zachovalo jen málo. Je smutné, že i když Gardel Estate stále vyrábí cukr, tak se zdá, že poslední rum tu vyrobili v roce 1992. Tehdy bylo po 122 letech nepřetržitého provozu zařízení lihovaru zničeno.
