History
Company was established in 1958.
GIHOC Distilleries Company was established in 1958 as State Distilleries. It was one of 28 state-owned enterprises set up by the first president of Ghana, Dr Kwame Nkrumah. By the late 1980s several of these enterprises had gone into liquidation as a result of poor financial performance but GIHOC Distilleries was financially viable. Following the divestiture of the non-performing state-owned enterprises, GIHOC Distilleries was registered as a limited liability company and placed under the supervision of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, with 100% government ownership.
