History
Company was established in 1864.
The Hungarian National Archives states that the firm existed in the years 1864-1951.
The distillery and liquor store was founded by Mihály Gschwindt, who in 1853 bought the distillery and yeast factory of Pál Günther, founded in 1800. In 1854 he expanded his factory in Budapest, Üllői út, to produce vinegar and in 1856 to produce liqueur. The factory continued to expand in the 1860s. In 1968, Mihály was succeeded by his son Ernő Gschwindt, who turned the company into a joint-stock company called Gschwindt's Szesz-, Élestő-, Likőr- and Rumgyár Rt.
After the nationalisation, the company's name was changed to Budapesti Szesz-, Yäsztó, ek Kőrgyár, after which the Budapest division was spun off as Budapesti Szeszipari Vállalat Budafoki-Élesztó.
In 1942 it is listed as an aryized company under the name „Gschwindt-Féle Szesz-, Élesztő- és Rumgyär Rt.“
