History
Company was established in 1854.
In 1854 Heinrich Konrad Johann Philipp Illert opened a lithographic company in Mühlheim aM, which mainly printed cigar labels. In 1856 he moved the printing company to Groß-Steinheim.
In 1857 Wilhelm Ewald became his partner and the firm was renamed 'Lithographische Kunstanstalt Illert & Ewald'. After his death, Illert became the sole owner. Around 1886 his sons Fritz and Heinrich Wilhelm Alexander took over the management of the company.
In 1911, Illert & Ewald began printing wine labels.
In 1921, the Chromolithographische Kunstanstalt Gebrüder Illert GmbH, Klein-Auheim, was founded. The company specialized in printing wine and spirit labels. The management was taken over by Heinrich Wilhelm Alexander Illert's sons, Friedrich Wilhelm and Heinrich.
In 1965, Illert & Ewald KG and Gebrüder Illert GmbH merged to form Illert KG Graphische Betriebe.
