Geschichte
The history of Destilerias Unidas S.A.C. goes back to April 29 of 1929, date in which the operations of the Cartavio Rum Plant are started. This plant was founded by the company Cartavio Sugar Co., which was owned by W. R. Grace & Co.
In October of 1968, as part of the agricultural reform the Peruvian State took in charge the plant operations. Ten years later, January 1978, the same Peruvian State creates the company Sociedad Paramonga Ltda. (S.P.L.), merging Cartavio S.A., Compania Papelera Trujillo S.A. and Envases San Martin S.A., all this companies were owned by W. R. Grace & Co., and this way S.P.L took control of the Ron Cartavio Plant.
In April of 1994 an important event took place in our history, inside of the privatization process of the public companies of the Peruvian State, acquired Plantas Quimicas and Sociedad Paramonga Ltda. S.A., and for its administration creates the enterprise Industrial Cartavio S.A., which operated under this denomination until March of 2001, when it changed its trade name to Destilerias Unidas S.A.C.
Cartavio Rum Company is a private company which is part of the IF GROUP whose factory is located in Avenida Santa Elena s/n Cartavio Ascope, La Libertad, and its commercial office is located at Avenida La Molina 140 Ate. Cartavio Rum Company is focused on the manufacturing and sale of alcoholic beverages, ethyl alcohol and alcoholic concentrate for Ron.
Cartavio's story dates back to April 29, 1929 date in which the operations begin at the Cartavio Plant.
In October 1968 due to the process of land reform the Peruvian government took over operations of the plant.
In January 1978 the Peruvian state establishes Sociedad Paramonga Ltda., who assume the administration of the Cartavio Plant.
April 1994 marks a milestone in the history when the IF GROUP acquires the module of the Chemical and Liquor plants of Cartavio to Sociedad Paramonga Ltda., therefore Empresa Industrial Cartavio S.A is established.
Empresa Industrial Cartavio S.A operates until March 2001 when its corporate name changes to DESTILERIAS UNIDAS SAC. Since then Cartavio Rum Company has been innovating their processes of fermentation, distillation and bottling with the latest technology combining also traditional techniques for aging and mixtures, with experienced and trained staff.
